How often have you thought, and said, that winter time is a dreary place in the garden. Trees that are bare, shrubs that have been pruned back to basics. Spring flower bulbs already planted but still deep within the soil waiting for the heralding of Spring. I’ve said it myself so many times.
Yet, while strolling the other morning in the gardens here, feeling and hearing the crunch of a heavy frost underfoot, I espied a small mound of mushrooms sitting under a large fir tree. I couldn’t resist taking this photo.
Then as I walked back inside the front door, my eye caught the glimpse of brilliant colour that I hadn’t noticed earlier. A small sprig of pansies, bravely flowering and showing their colours to the world in the midst of frost and fog.
Reminded me that we need to show the world our bright side too.
